Katie was appointed Sussex Wing Radio & Communications Officer and team leader in Autumn 2011.

Katie joined 54DF (later to be 249) Hailsham Sqn Air Training Corps as a cadet in 1995 and, among many other achievements, gained her Communicator's Badge in 2003.

After completing 9 years as a cadet, in 2004, she was commissioned into the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (Training Branch).  She moved to 54 Sqn In 2005 and was promoted to Flying Officer in 2006. In 2007 she moved to 2262 Sqn.

As well as all her other squadron based activities, she joined the Comms Team as an instructor in 2005 and has been a core member ever since.

With the team, she has specialised in aspects of the technical skills module and radio operations but is now responsible for organising and managing all the team's training activities especially courses for cadets and potential staff members.
