Activity Support

Our secondary activity is supporting events across the two counties - East and West Sussex.

These activities fall into two categories; Wing organised events and activities in support of the local community. Each year there are six major events:

• South Downs Challenge
• Shoreham Airshow
• Edenbridge Show
• Wing Field Weekend
• Eastbourne Airshow
• Uckfield Carnival

- and numerous smaller events organised by inividual squadrons; usually in support of local charities.

Mobile ComCen

We have recently completed the conversion of a caravan into a Mobile Command & Control Centre.

The caravan has a fully functioning cooker, oven, refrigerator and toilet and fitted benches down two sides for admin work.  There are two low-voltage supply systems on board (for one in use, the other on charge) with multiple units providing 4mm & screw-type terminals.  There is also a number of 240v outlets that can be fed from external mains or a generator. 

Standard communications support includes an Alinco mobile VHF/UHF dual-band radio with mag-mount aerial and six UHF hand-held radios complete with charger rack.  Various SitRep boards are also included and an extending mast, dual-band antenna and a generator are also available if required.

The ComCen is sign-written for clear identification & publicity purposes.  It is professionally serviced to ensure it is as safe as we can make it but is not suitable as overnight accomodation and this is strictly forbidden.
