Sussex Wing Air Training Corps
Communications Training Team
The Amateur Radio licensing scheme has undergone a thorough revision in recent years. The system is now in three parts; Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced. Those who obtained licences prior to this have had their qualifications transferred across to the new scheme and the resulting mix of standards and call-signs will take some time to completely settle down.
For the purposes of this scheme, it is sufficient to achieve the standard for the award of a Foundation licence but, obviously, higher awards will be accepted as including this.
In simple terms, anyone who holds a valid Amateur Radio licence and call-sign issued by the UK authorities will satisfy the requirements.
A pass mark in the Amateur Radio Foundation Licence syllabus
The SXcomms team still hold the record for training and qualifying candidates for the Amateur Radio licence - 42 people on an intensive weekend course all passing their exams and gaining their licences at one sitting
