Sussex Wing Air Training Corps

Communications Training Team

Internet

Background Information

This is an optional module.

The World Wide Web and e-mail have become enormously important communications facilities over the last few years. Many people assume that these are "the Internet" but there is more to it than just these two. This module includes the use of File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and the various pieces of software necessary to ensure the safety of computers and, indeed, their operators. In the modern world, most cadets are fully immersed in this new technology but may well have a purely superficial knowledge of some of these topics. Coverage of some of the underlying technology is also included but not in any great depth. More than anything else, these topics are concerned with demystifying some of the technical jargon.
