Background Information - Communicator's Badge

The training syllabus is published by Headquarters Air Cadets as part of ACP44 and the introductory module is dealt with in ACP31 vol 6. Copies of these are held by every Air Cadet unit but may also be requested via the link on this page.

Candidates have to successfully complete six of the eleven modules available. Two of the modules are compulsory but the choice of the other four is left to the cadet. Inevitably, not all modules are offered by all units, wings or training teams however.

Each unit is responsible for training their own cadets but some topics require specialised knowledge. For this reason a number of wings have established their own training teams to help units. The Sussex Communications Training Team runs courses for five of the modules and the introductory, compulsory, module based on ACP31 volume 6 is left to the individual units to cover.

Once a cadet has successfully completed the scheme an application must be made to the unit communications Officer for the award of a certificate and badge. The unit Officer will complete the application form and forward it to the Wing Communications Officer. If the application is valid, the Wing Communications Officer will make the necessary arrangements for the presentation of the certificate and badge; usually at a formal parade at the cadet's unit.

BADER

A new venture for 2009 is an introductory course on the BADER administration system. This is aimed at staff and senior cadets who are new to the system but need the necessary training to be able to enter and access their unit's data.
